Privacy Policy
Last updated: 22 October 2026
The short version: we only collect what we need to run Shootsy, we never sell your data, and we use trusted services to handle payments and email. You can ask to see, fix or delete your data at any time.
1. Who is responsible for your data
SHOOTSY LTD (company number 17450268), 26 Gregg Close, Swanmore, Southampton, England, SO32 2FD, is the controller of your personal data. Contact us at hello@shootsy.co.uk.
2. What we collect
- Account details: your name, email address, city, role (client or creator) and a securely hashed password. We never store your password in plain text.
- Creator profiles: your bio, styles, experience, rate, portfolio links and photos, availability, and your approximate location if you choose to share it so that "near me" search works.
- Bookings and messages: booking dates, locations and notes, the messages you send in booking chats, and reviews.
- Payments: handled by Stripe. We receive the booking amount, payment status and a payment reference, but we never see or store your full card details. Creators give their identity and bank details directly to Stripe to receive payouts.
- Location for "near me": only if you tap the button and allow your device to share it. We use it to sort creators by distance and do not keep a history of your movements.
- Technical data: basic server logs such as IP address and browser type, used for security and fixing problems.
3. Why we use it
- To create your account and run the service, including bookings, chat and reviews (to perform our contract with you).
- To take payments and pay creators (to perform our contract, and to meet legal obligations).
- To send you service emails, such as a welcome message and booking updates (to perform our contract).
- To keep Shootsy safe, prevent fraud and fix problems (our legitimate interests).
- To meet our legal and accounting obligations.
We will only send you marketing emails if you have agreed to them, and you can unsubscribe at any time.
4. Who we share it with
We do not sell your personal data. We share it only with the services that help us run Shootsy:
- Stripe for payments and creator payouts.
- Resend for sending emails.
- Render for hosting our website, app and database.
- Other people on the platform, as needed. For example, a creator sees a client's name and booking details once a request is made, and your public creator profile is visible to everyone.
- Authorities or advisers, if the law requires it or to protect our legal rights.
Some of these providers may process data outside the UK. Where they do, we rely on approved safeguards such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or the UK Extension to the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.
5. How long we keep it
We keep your account data while your account is open. If you ask us to delete your account, we remove your personal data, except for records we must keep by law, such as payment and accounting records, which we keep for up to 7 years.
6. Cookies and similar technologies
Shootsy only uses what is strictly necessary to work, such as storing your login on your device so you stay signed in. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies. If that changes, we will ask for your consent first.
7. Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask us to access, correct, delete or export your data, to restrict or object to how we use it, and to withdraw consent where we rely on it. Email hello@shootsy.co.uk and we will reply within one month.
If you are unhappy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk, though we would appreciate the chance to put things right first.
8. Security
We use encrypted connections (HTTPS), hash passwords, and limit who can access personal data. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a strong, unique password.
9. Children
Shootsy is for people aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
10. Changes
We may update this policy and will change the date above. If we make an important change, we will let you know.
